A few kilometers away for Cervinia and Valtournenche, the Cheneil basin harbors a handful of buildings blessed with a spectacular 360-degree view of Mount Cervino and its surrounding peaks. A must-see spot for visitors of the area is the “Grand Balcony”, a suggestive panoramic trail leading to Cervinia or, in the opposite direction, to Chamois and the lake of Lod. Equally charming is the recently installed panoramic elevator leading directly to Cheneil’s center: inaugurated in 2016, it can be used entirely free of charge 24 hours a day, with regular departures from La Barma (where travelers will find ample parking in which to leave their vehicles while visiting the car-free town).
